Description:

  • Warm and humid climatic conditions, along with frequent rains, are favourable for the occurrence of this disease.

Damage Symptoms:

  • Angular to circular yellowish-brown spots with a yellow halo appear on leaves.
  • The spots coalesce, and the leaves dry up later.
  • Shallow, water-soaked, brown-colored, sunken lesions develop on the stem, later girdling it and leading to shoot death.
  • On mature fruits, circular, black, sunken lesions of varying sizes appear.
  • Affected fruits ripen, turn yellow, and the flesh becomes tough and insipid.

Preventive Measures:

  • Maintain proper drainage in the field.

Control Measures:

  • Spray mancozeb or chlorothalonil at 0.2%.
