Description:

  • Downy mildew occurs mainly in cool, wet conditions, particularly during the initial stages of winter.

Damage Symptoms:

  • Small, pale yellow angular spots appear on the upper surface of leaves, with downy growth on the underside.
  • The spots coalesce, causing the leaves to shrivel and dry up prematurely.
  • Stems exhibit dark brown, depressed lesions or streaks, which later develop downy fungal growth.

Preventive Measures:

  • Remove and destroy infected plant debris.

Control Measures:

  • Spray Metalaxyl @ 0.25% or Mancozeb @ 0.2%.
