High relative humidity of 80–85% and a temperature range of 24–26 degrees Celsius favours the development of powdery mildew.
Damage Symptoms:
The first sign of infection is the presence of white powdery growth on the underside of the leaves. Later, these spots increase in size and cover the entire leaf.
On the upper surface, green to yellow blotches appear, usually near the veins.
Yellowing, twisting, and drying of leaves occur during severe infection.
The affected fruits are stunted and malformed.
Preventive Measures:
Apply Trichoderma viride.
Control Measures:
At the first sight of infection, apply sulphur dust (30 g/10 L of water) or a 5 ml Calixin 75 EC mixture in 10 L of water at 15-day intervals.
