Description:

  • Warm and humid conditions, along with poorly drained soils, are favourable conditions for the occurrence of this disease.
  • The disease can affect okra plants at all stages of development, but young plants are more susceptible.

Damage Symptoms:

  • Yellowing, wilting, and drooping of leaves
  • Dark brown discoloration of the vascular tissue
  • Stunted growth, with smaller leaves and fewer pods
  • In severe cases, complete wilting and plant death

Preventive Measures:

  • Practice deep summer ploughing
  • Follow crop rotation

Control Measures:

  • Spot drenching with carbendazim at 0.1%
